Home prices have surged drastically this year, making it difficult for those looking to but their first home. So people are still renting. But San Antonio rents aren’t necessarily dropping. From finding your perfect new home to negotiating rent prices, searching for an apartment in San Antonio can be quite the experience. Taking inspiration from our sister publication SFGate in San Francisco, MySA is looking at local properties showcasing the best, worst, and everything in between here in the Alamo City. Let’s guess the rent.
This week, we are guessing the rent on this two-bedroom home in the Alta Vista neighborhood not far from Trinity University.
At first glance, the home looks like it could use a few touch-ups here and there, but the years of wear give this rental a certain charm. (Also, it’s not blue this time.)
Let’s guess the rent.
The charming porch is wide enough to fit a table and chairs – perfect for fall evenings.
CraigslistA shaded porch with all this space isn’t easy to find in newer homes nowadays, but this 1,340-square-foot home at 514 Summit Avenue has one. Let’s head inside.

Fireplace! This photo shows how you can work around the feature even if you don’t intend to use it.
CraigslistFireplace are common fixtures in older homes. Whoever furnished this room found a way to incorporate it into a cozy sitting area. The post doesn’t say if the fireplace is ready for use.

Here’s a look at one of the bedrooms.
Craigslist
This bedroom and the natural lighting looks comfy. The wood flooring found throughout the home is a definite plus for diehard traditionalists. The master bedroom also has a “huge” walk-in closet, according to the post.
There also seems to be a window AC unit in every room, and the post doesn’t say if there is central heating and air.

Who doesn’t love a good vintage clawfoot tub?
CraigslistThere is only one bathroom in this home. Should you decide to have a roommate, you will have to share. But the clawfoot tub and Greco Roman tiling on the floor give this bathroom a great vintage feel.

The charming kitchen is the best selling point.
CraigslistOK. This is where you’ll find most of the charm. This kitchen with a gas stove and the pale green tile looks like it was pulled out of a movie from the ’50s.
It’s not as close to popular nightspots like some of our other Guess the Rent homes, but it’s a quick drive or Lyft to locations like the Pearl or downtown.
And the rent for this home is… $1,375 a month, plus a deposit, though the exact deposit amount was not listed. Two-bedrooms in the Alta Vista area are listed at an average rent price of $1,475 according to Zumper.
