Guess the rent of this Monte Vista two-bedroom rental near downtown San Antonio

Home prices have surged drastically this year, making it difficult for those looking to but their first home. So people are still renting. But San Antonio rents aren’t necessarily dropping. From finding your perfect new home to negotiating rent prices, searching for an apartment in San Antonio can be quite the experience. Taking inspiration from our sister publication SFGate in San Francisco, MySA is looking at local properties showcasing the best, worst, and everything in between here in the Alamo City. Let’s guess the rent.

We’re taking a trip away from the downtown luxury lofts this week to a Craigslist post advertising a downstairs two-bedroom, two-bathroom rental in a (squints) “fourplex.” OK, that’s a thing now.

This fourplex at 206 Magnolia Drive is centered in the historic Monte Vista neighborhood. Living here puts you only minutes away from the St. Mary’s Strip and speedy access to downtown San Antonio.

Sure you’re surrounded by some great amenities, but what do you get with the living space? And how much will it cost?

Let’s dive in.

A living room with a built-in book shelf. Say less.

I’m starting with the living room y’all. Why? There is a built-in bookshelf, and built-in shelving features are always a plus. Grab a book and then turn around.

You’ll find a picturesque window nook to sit and read that book. If you couldn’t tell by the floor heater in the previous picture, the rental has gas heating.

Look. I’ll be honest. The kitchen isn’t much to write home about, but it has the essentials to get the job done. I, for one, prefer cooking with a gas stove. It’s just better.

It looks like this might be the dining room. Either way, I’m a sucker for built-ins and accents, and this could easily be used as a hutch. Imagine it.

The bathroom looks a little cramped, but we'll forgive it for the tilework.

Craigslist

There are two bathrooms in this unit, but this one is a little too narrow for my taste. Considering the size of the home, I had hoped for roomier loos. I might be able to forgive it for the black and white tile work. Look at the floor tile. Very antique.

Look at these double doors that open up on to the porch. If I were hosting a get together, I would 100 percent open these up for more space.

The post says that the unit also comes with an office space.

How much will you pay for this two-bedroom? The monthly rent is $1,200. This is, of course, on top of a $1,200 monthly deposit. The rental also comes with covered parking in the back. Zumper says the average rent for a two-bedroom is $1,250.

Did you guess the rent?
